1.Scope
This’Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the negative-glow lamps, hereinafter referred to as the “lamps” , to be used as indicators .
The fluorescent glow lamps shall be included in this standard.2. Definitions
For the purpose of this standard, besides in compliance with JIS.8113,thefollowing principal definitions apply :
fluorescent glow lamp A. lamp which has fluorescent material layer
applied inside of a glass bulb and rare gas, excite fluorescent materialby the ultraviolet radiation radiated by discharge of rare gas,and its luminescence is used as indicators.
initial characteristics The starting voltage and extent of glow of a lampwhen operated using the specified series resistance after aging has been done.
extent of glow The rate of the part covered with glow. covers to thepart of the electrode to be bright when operated at the rated voltage, using the specified series resistance.
(4)life Either shorter hours of the hours until the starting voltage is
raised up to 90 % of the rated voltage when the lamp is operatedcontinuously under the rated voltage using the specified series resistance, or the hours until the glass bulb of the lamp is ,blackenedso bad as considered unsuitable as indicators.
(5)、 rated life A nominal life announced based on the mean life of the
same type lamps which have been .manufactured over a long terms.(6)
wire termination For the lamps without cap,the part of the lead-in wirewhich is out of the glass bulb..
3. Type
The type shall be indicated by means of each item below.
4 Performances
4.1. Cap Adhesive Strength The cap adhesive strength of the lamps with: cap shall withstand the appropriate value in the following Table, when tested as- specified in 7.2(2).
4.2 wire Termination Bending Strength The wire termination bendingstrength shall withstand the tests specified in 7.2 (3).
4.3. Initial CharacteristicsThe initial characteristics shall comply with.Attached Table , when tested as specified in 7.2 (4).
4.4 LifeThe life shall comply with Attached Table, when tested as specifiedin 7.2 (5).
5.Materials and Construction
The materials and construction of the lamps shall comply with the following.requirements.
( 1). The glass bulb shall be uncoloured and free from flaws or other defects detrimental to service.
(2) The fluorescent glow lamps shall be applied uniformly with fluorescent material inside the glass bulb.
(3) Neon gas or other suitable gas shall be.filled in the glass bulb.
(4)The lead-in wire shall be of material of good quality with high electrical conductivity , and the glass-sealed part thereof shall be of the wire specified in JIS H 4541.The lead-in wire shall be firmly connected withthe electrode and cap. The wire termination shall not break easily.
(5) The electrode shall be of nickel or other suitable metal.
(6) Condueting part of the caps shall be of the brass specified in JIS H 3100,or other suitable material, while insulating part thereof shall be of glass or other suitable materials. The caps shall be surely attached tothe glass bulb by suitable adhesive means so as not to get loose whilethe lamps are in service.
