1.scope
This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the defrosting
performances and their testing methods of the windscreen defrostingsystems,hereinafter,referred to as the “defrosters” for the trucksor buses specified in JIS D 0101.
Further,this standard may apply to the mechanisms same as trucks andbuses.
Remark:In this standard,numerical values and units given in { }
are in accordance with the Internationa1 System of Units(sI).
2.Definitions
(1)For the purposes of this standard,the fo11owing definitions apply:(1)defrostThat operation which melts frost or ice covering the exterior surface of a day1ight opening,unti1 it becomes transparent or semitransparent state.
(2)day1ight openingwithin a front glass surface,that lighttransmitting part which has not been shaded with glass holdingmembers, decorative members and the 1ike.
(3)specific defrost area That area on the exterior surface of adaylight opening,hereinafter,abbreviated as the “s” sectioned by the intersecting 1ines of the tangentia1 planes,upper and lower and right and 1eft,to an eye range with theexterior surface of the daylight opening.However,the part of25 mm along,the glass surface,from the extreme end of the
daylight opening is to be excluded (see Figure).
(4)effective defrosted area when a defroster has been operated,that area within the specific defrost area on the exterior surface of a daylight opening, which is defrosted by thedefroster,hereinafter, abbreviated as the ” sa “.
(5)defrosted area ratioA percentage representation of the ratioof an effective defrosted area to the actua1 area within a specific defrost area.
3.Performance
The defrosting performance of the defroster shall satisfy thefo11owing values under a test room temperature condition A (very colddistrict) at -18°C or condition B (cold district) at -10°C.
20 min. after start of test: 80% or over of the area “c” shall be defrosted
25 min. after start of test: 80% or over of the area “C” shal1 be defrosted
40 min. after start of test: 95% or over of the area “a” sha11 be defrosted
